University Anniversary Gala
Celebrating its 53. Anniversary, Pomeranian University of Słupsk has organised an important gala event, whose overarching aim was to award outstanding individuals involved in activities for the benefit of the local and regional community and a charity auction “For Ukraine”. The ceremony was inaugurated by the Rector of Pomeranian University in Słupsk, professor Zbigniew Osadowski.
This year's gala was the culmination of a series of events as part of the University's 53rd birthday. For the second time in history, we honoured those involved in the community outreach activities. The statuettes were awarded in four categories:
1) Popularisation of mathematical sciences and organisation of the Mathematical League competition - awarded to Ms Irena Domnik, PhD, Ms Zofia Lewandowska, PhD, and Ms Małgorzata Turowska, PhD, from the Institute of Exact and Technical Sciences;
2) Popularisation of Polish culture and language - awarded to Mr Albert Zielonka, the co-founder of “Władca Lalek” (“Master of Puppets”) Theatre.
3) Development of entrepreneurship spirit and promotion of pro-social solutions - awarded to Mr Kamil Patynowski from the Lex Humana Foundation.
4) Popularisation of a healthy lifestyle - awarded to Mr Jarosław Domałążek from the AQUA Swimming Association in Ustka.
The second part of the gala was devoted to the charity auction. A number of paintings, other pieces of art as well as books and other valuable items were put on auction. All the money was transferred to the account of the Association of Alumni and Employees of Pomeranian University in Slupsk, and will be used to support our Ukrainian students and their families.
We would like to thank for, and congratulate everyone on, their participation!
The event is being realised as part of the Active Academy project, funded by the Ministry of Education and Science.
