4th International Scientific Seminar "The Reading of Abay: the history and perspectives of Kazakh culture"
The beginning of June (9-10 June) witnessed the 4th International Scientific Seminar titled: "The Reading of Abay: the history and perspectives of Kazakh culture". This year’s seminar was dedicated to the 150th birthday anniversary of the eminent Kazakh scholar and reformer, Akhmet Baitursynov.
The scientific seminar was organised in a hybrid format together with the long-standing partner university of the Pomeranian University in Słupsk - the Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University. A number of guests also participated in the event, namely representatives of the academic communities from Kazakhstan, Poland, the USA, the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Poland, the Consulate of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Gdańsk, and the Association of Poles of Nur-Sultan. The students of both Master’s and Doctoral Degree, represented, among others: Pomeranian University in Slupsk, Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, the University of Warsaw, Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, University of International Business (Almaty), the Abay Pavlodar Pedagogical University, and George Washington University (Washington, USA).
The event was organised under the Honorary Patronage of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Poland as part of the celebrations of the 150th anniversary of Akhmet Baitursynov's birthday and the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Poland. Besides listening to talks devoted to Akhmet Bytursinul, participants could also learn more about the history of Kazakh-Polish relations, get acquainted with the language and culture of Kazakhstan, and taste some of the specialities of Kazakh cuisine: chocolate, sweets, marmalade, zephyr, as well as tasting traditional kurt and zient.
