Our University represented at 2022 Forum on Vocational Excellence in San Sebastián, Spain
15th and 16th November 2022 saw one of the most important events devoted to vocational education, namely the 2022 Forum on Vocational Excellence. Held in San Sebastián, a city in the Autonomous Basque Country, Spain, the Forum gathered around 300 on-site, and more than 400 online participants from all around the world.
The presentations, discussions, and workshops revolved around the concept of Centres of Vocational Excellence (CoVE), including, in particular, the different ways the existence of CoVEs have changed the European educational landscape, providing new opportunities for trainees through innovative and competitive educational programmes. Another important aspect discussed was that of cooperation between various stakeholders within CoVEs, including businesses, vocational schools and universities. The idea of VET (=vocational education and training) was widely promoted, including a thematically-oriented workshop devoted to EU projects that can focus on VET. A representative of the Polish Ministry of Education and Science, Maciej Lasota, Head of Unit in the Department of Strategy, Qualifications and Vocational Education, presented a ministerial programme promoting VET, which aims at opening 120 Sectoral Skills Centres throughout Poland.
The Forum was also a great opportunity to present the work of actual Centres for Vocational Excellence. To this end, all participants could visit the Tknika Training Centre (https://tknika.eus/en/), as well as present CoVEs that were set up as part of Erasmus+ funded projects. Also presented was the 3LoE project (https://3-loe.eu/), in which our University plays an important role, constituting with two other partners, namely Zespół Szkół Mechanicznych i Logistycznych (The Mechanics and Logistics Secondary School in Słupsk) and Izba Rzemieślnicza w Szczecinie (The Crafts Chamber from Szczecin), the Polish Centre of Vocational Excellence.
Our University was represented by Vice-Rector for Development and Cooperation, professor Marek Łukasik.
